Offres de PhDs

SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste.

SISSA has a long and important tradition in higher academic training. In this respect the following initiatives might be of interest :

- MASTER PROGRAM IN MATHEMATICS : this is a joint program with the University of Trieste to train master students in mathematics. Young talented students will receive a fellowship and attend additional courses held by SISSA faculties. Starting from 2018 the classes will be taught in English, and some fellowships will be reserved to non EU students.

- PHD PROGRAMS : since many years our doctoral school has two renowned curricula in mathematics, "Geometry and Mathematical Physics" and "Mathematical Analysis, Modeling, and Applications". These 4-years PhD programs allow students to be trained and to interact with leading scientists in the field. Every year some fellowships are awarded to non EU students.

More information on the above programs and on SISSA can be found at the web page www.math.sissa.it.

2 PhD positions within Einstein Visiting Fellow programme at TU Berlin are opened. The scholarships is granted for 3 years and amounts to about 1.450 Euro per month (tax free, no insurances included) starting April 2018. The PhD student is supposed to settle at TU Berlin.

PhD student position 1 : A PhD scholarship is available in the framework of the Einstein Visiting Fellow programme at TU Berlin within the Collaborative Research Center ”Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems : Theoretical methods and concepts of application”. A successful candidate is supposed to work under the supervision of Eduard Feireisl on problems related to the mathematical theory of fluid mechanics. Basic knowledge of PDE’s and functional analysis, including the framework of Sobolev spaces and weak solutions is required. The emphasis will be put on the concept of generalized solutions, their stability and asymptotic behavior under general stochastic perturbations. PhD student position 2 : A PhD scholarship is available in the framework of the Einstein Visiting Fellow programme at TU Berlin within the Collaborative Research Center ”Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems : Theoretical methods and concepts of application”. A successful candidate is supposed to work under the supervision of Eduard Feireisl on problems related to the mathematical theory of fluid mechanics. Basic knowledge of PDE’s and functional analysis, including the framework of Sobolev spaces and weak solutions is required. The emphasis will be put on the concept of generalized solutions and the applications of the abstract theory for designing efficient numerical schemes.

For more information, please, contact Eduard Feireisl (feireisl@math.cas.cz) or Etienne Emmrich(emmrich@math.tu-berlin.de). Please, send your application together with a CV via e-mail to secr diffeqs@math.tu-berlin.de not later than by March 4, 2018.
